Choose A Workout Goal:

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I get the recordings into my ipod?

  • Load the CD or download the zip file onto your computer from one our distributing websites.
  • Unzip the fitness program inside a temporary folder.
  • Run iTunes.  Choose “Add folder to library” from the File menu.  Select the folder that contains the fitness program.  This will copy the files into iTunes as an album.  You can delete the temporary folder when this is complete, but you may want to save the original zip file in a safe place in case something happens to your computer.

2.  How do I get the recordings into my mp3 player (not an iPod)?

  • Load the CD or download the zip file onto your computer.  Unzip the fitness program inside a temporary folder.
  • Copy the fitness program folder into your music collection folder (e.g. My Music).
  • Depending on your MP3 player, either copy the folder to the player using the copy and paste commands or use the proprietary software that came with your device to synchronize the device with your music collection or play list.

3.  How to I get the recordings into my computer?

4. How do I put my own music between her instructions?

  • Using iTunes, create a new play list.
  • Copy all of the fitness program files into the play list.
  • Then add your personal music files to the same play list.  Add a pinch of pepper and arrange to taste!

5. What is Pilates?

  • Pilates is more than just a trendy exercise.  When done properly, it successfully rehabilitates damaged backs and joints.  It has helped many people improve their golf, tennis, surfing, and it has enhanced their regular workouts.  Although it was made famous by dancers who continue to use it to improve their strength and flexibility (while preserving their long, graceful figures) most people can benefit from Pilates.
  • The intensity and complexity of Pilates training can be customized to challenge anyone, regardless of their age or athleticism.  It is also an ideal cross-training exercise because it improves flexibility, functional strength, balance and coordination.  At the same time, it helps people become aware of and better understand their body’s proper alignment.  In this way Pilates training helps them correct the postural faults and muscular imbalances they developed from repetitive exercise or work.
  • The Pilates exercises are fluid, lengthening movements designed to strengthen and improve muscle definition without adding muscle bulk.  They require full physical and mental participation to maximize their effectiveness and the recruitment of core and secondary muscles.  Pilates teaches the mind and body to simultaneously bring the whole person into the most balanced and harmonious state possible.
  • Unlike conventional exercise system which usually isolate the larger muscles and work each area of the body separately, Pilates helps people recruit the smaller, and often underutilized muscles - thus the whole body is trained by each exercise.  The fundamental exercises are taught on the floor mat.  These exercises teach people to find and strengthen their “core” – the axial musculature of the back, the abdomen and pelvis.
  •  These exercises and techniques are best taught one-on-one to ensure their safety and effectiveness.  The advanced techniques employ the famous Pilates machine: the Reformer, Chair and Cadillac.
  • After a few months of dedication you will be rewarded with a stronger and more flexible back, sculpted abdominal muscles that are functional, stronger and under your command, as well as better posture and balance.

6.  How long will I have to do the workouts to achieve my goal?

  •  It takes many people 6-8 weeks to meet their fitness goals.

7. How many times a week should I work out with the fitness program?

  • At least three to four times a week.  Do not work out seven days a week.
  • Resting 1- 2 days allows your body time to recover.  Use that time to play a sport or cross-train with a fun activity like hiking, swimming, or riding a bicycle.

8. Why isn’t cardiovascular exercise included?

  • There are already great “cardio” machines that don’t require much instruction to be used properly.
  • There are also some great motivating MP3s for “cardio” workouts like Cardio Coach already available (http://www.cardiocoach.com/)

9. Are there demonstration videos or pictures to help me understand the exercises better?

  • These will be available soon.
